In December of 2012, I.C.E.Man. Consultancy was founded to provide more comprehensive service to it’s client. Further experience with the oil & gas industry has provided Ice with experience across all facets of the emergency response businesses, and he now brings his expertise and knowledge to the continual pursuit of providing the highest quality training and consultation to the customers of I.C.E.Man. Consultancy.

In January 2018 Ice made the decision to sell the business and become a member of the iCollege Family. Ice continues to contribute to the success of the business running all operations and actively working with the team to further expand operations internationally.

Tony Pyne, MA(Oxon), MPhil, by necessity was first acquainted with emergencies and the techniques needed to deal with them, during his 22 year career as a military and then civilian aicraft pilot. It was during this period that he also beecame a qualified professional instructor. He says, “You can survive emergencies with a little luck. I certainly did. If you want to grow old, however, you need to know what you are doing and why.”

In 1995, Tony transferred his skills to studying and teaching Major Emergency Management in the petro-chemical industry. Since then, he has taught and designed offshore courses in the Gulf of Mexico, the North Sea and Liverpool Bay, the Caspian Sea, the Arabian Gulf, the Red Sea and the South China Sea. In addition, he has conducted onshore courses in Texas, Louisiana, the UK, France, Baku, Abu Dhabi, Das Island, Cairo, Thailand and Australia.

He has also written a book, “The Management of Major Emergencies” (Trafford, 2004).

Bob Pollock
Emergency Response Consultant
D32/33 Assessor / D34 Verifier

Bob Pollock started as an apprentice marine engineer with BP in 1962. Attended Stow College , Glasgow and South Shields Marine College , OND in Marine Engineering. He worked for various UK shipping companies as a marine engineer until 1975. During this time passed Second and First Class ( Chief Engineer) certificates of competency after attending Glasgow College of Nautical Studies.

In 1975 Bob worked in various onshore jobs. He was a Chief Engineer in an nonferrous metal foundry and an Assistant Superintendent in a water treatment facility. 2 years later he started with Shell Expro North Sea holding the position of a Well Services controller for 3 years, he was promoted to Well Services Supervisor managing Well Services activities on two Brent Platforms During this period carried out an audit of Well Services activities in Sarawak. In 1982 he was transferred to production Operations in Shell Northern Fields. During this career he was promoted through Production Supervisor, Operations Supervisor to OIM before he left Shell in 1997 on voluntary severance.

1998 Bob was engaged as a Trainer and Assessor for Control Room Operator and OIM in emergency response and he was the company Internal Verifier for Control room operators for RGIT Montrose for 6 years. He also carried out onshore plant training and assessment, this includes work in BHP Algeria, Conoco Indonesia , Conoco Mablethorpe and Woodside Petroleum Australia. Concurrently he also carried out work for Chrysalis Learning Aberdeen, developing and presenting production operation courses, CBT (computer based training) and simulator developement (to engineering design standard) and training personnel in process operations prior to first oil on a major Elf / Total north sea platform.

2004 Bob joined Risktec Australia as an Offshore OIM and onshore Plant Manager emergency response Trainer and Assessor. He was tasked to work in Australia, Azerbaijan, Korea, Singapore and Malaysia. He was also tasked to develope and present Emergency Response Plans for an EPV (Early Production Vessel) and an Internal verifier for Risktec. Currently Bob is providing offshore and onshore plant training and Assessment in emergency response for Benchmark Training in Jakarta and a Trainer and Assessor for CRO and OIM emergency response and an Internal Verifier for Petrofac Training UK.

Angus Towns
HSE Consultant
D32/33 Assessor / V1 Verifier

Angus has over 35 years in the Oil and Gas industry covering a wide array of positions. Angus started offshore with a Drilling Contractor and held positions of Roustabout, Roughneck and Derrickman. He then moved to a major Oil Company and gained experience as a Deck Foreman, Production Operator, Permit Coordinator, Fire and Safety Officer, Health and Safety Team Leader and finally gained promotion to the position of Offshore Installation Manager (OIM).

After 25 years working offshore and having gained a wealth of experience in numerous roles. Angus set himself up as an independent safety consultant and since 2002 has trained, assessed and verified oil and gas personnel worldwide. His main focus has been assessing OIM’s and Site Managers competency in Major Emergencies Management to OPITO Standard.

He has also been frequently involved in the training of major operators Incident Management Teams in dealing with major emergencies. Also at clients request he has delivered, permit to work, risk assessment, accident investigation and basic company specific safety courses.

Jonathan Kwok
Operation Manager
Instructor / Role Player / Simulation Technician

Jonathan experience in Major Emergency Management comes when he was enlisted in 1991 to serve with the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN). During his service, his primary duty was a mechanical engineer on board the military vessels. His secondary duty was a member of the Emergency Response Team. He was trained in seamanship, firefighting, first aid and damage control. During his years with the Navy, he was involved with a few rescue and recovery missions for the RSN.

Jonathan joined ICEMan Consultancy In 2013 as an assistant course instructor and role player for Major Emergency Management courses and OIM Controlling Emergencies Assessment. In 2014 due to his diligent performance in the company, He was given the opportunity to conduct training courses as an instructor.

In July 2016 and 2017, He was in the team for the OIM and MEMIR OPITO site audit in PVD Training, Vung Tau. The team attained OPITO accreditation for OIM and MEMIR with PVD Training.

During this period, he has travelled across Middle East and South East Asia assisting and conducting Major Emergency Management courses; Emergency Response Procedure training and MEM Onshore Support training for our customers in oil & gas industry.
